I just read Silo got renewed for another season so I'm looking forward to seeing where this show goes. It currently has an 87% on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and audience and an 8.2 here.
This is definitely one of the best new shows of the year. It takes place in a dystopian future where everyone lives in a huge silo hundreds of stories underground.
They live there with a bunch of rules that they all believe are in place to protect them. It has a star studded cast led by Rebecca Ferguson and supported by Tim Robbins, Shane McRae, Will Patton, Common, Iain Glen, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, and more.

After being released from prison after 25 years, New York mob boss Dwight “The General” Manfredi is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sylvester Stallone’s first starring role in a television series. Dwight “The General” Manfredi: I don’t really go to church. The opening credits sequence shows various photographic and painted views as well as Oklahoma landmarks imposed upon the New York City landscape: A statue of Sioux Indian chief “Touch the Clouds” wearing a war bonnet and a bone choker necklace (breastplate) imposed upon the top of the Brooklyn Bridge.
The Golden Driller statue imposed upon the Statue of Liberty. The Western Gateway Arch of Route 66 imposed upon one of Manhattan’s main “avenues.” In New York City, in the borough of Manhattan, there are several numbered “avenues” that are crisscrossed by smaller numbered streets. I watched this out of curiosity, no high expectations, just surprised to see Stallone in a TV series. You feel the tension in the scenes, it also feels pretty realistic to the extent that the plot demands it.
I wouldn’t say it’s funny, but a couple of funny scenes as a result of Dwight (Stallone) coming out of a 25-year prison sentence and not being fully integrated into the way the world works now; so I’m guessing the abrupt transition will offer some interesting setbacks down the road for us. I’m glad someone told him how to use an Uber, it was fun while it lasted. Of course, Stallone has a great presence, but the rest of the cast seems pretty good. The show literally feels like you took gangsters written for an early 90s movie and threw them into 2022, which makes for a nice mix of humor and violence.
I thought it was going to be a throwaway show like some of Stallone’s recent movies are; mostly leaning on his name and performances, but Taylor Sheridan does a good job here with writing worthy of Stallone’s performances. I think it’ll be fun to see the macho Stallone building a criminal empire from scratch, in the middle of nowhere, in Tulsa. I think the show could end up flying under the radar and then creating a buzz with people wondering how they never noticed before, because I haven’t seen that much Paramount hype. I went in to see it without high expectations, but if the premiere episode is any indication, it could be a lot of fun to watch.
