Quoted on Korman Productions’ Deep Dive TV Podcast: Earth Abides on MGM+ Deep Dive, Episode 1 “Alone” with Dave and Stacie (2024). Normally the first episode would be a decent episode, but not here, which is especially bad since it’s about a global pandemic that is seemingly ending civilization. From what’s said, he’s only been out for three weeks, but the way everyone is talking and acting, it feels like months, even a year.
Well, that didn’t last long
It starts off by portraying him as a grounded guy who enjoys living on his own and away from civilization. What are the chances that when he meets her, she’s a strong, independent woman who doesn’t need a man, but he can tag along like a lost puppy? I really can’t see where the entertainment is going to come from when there’s almost no one left and no threat of infected like in 28 Days Later.
I’m not going to watch to find out!
That episode was just the survivors whining about being alive. Maybe there are the typical slave traders (probably Christians being painted in a bad light) who want to usher in a new world order and they need to escape them? One Hundred Years of Solitude is one of this month’s biggest TV and streaming premieres.
